From the hand axe to the fine hunting rifle

The weapons collection of the Baumann Foundation

Where? On the first floor in rooms 13 and 15

What? Since 2000, the banqueting hall and four cabinets have housed some 800 exhibits illustrating weapons technology from the Stone Age (hand axe) to the middle of the 19th century. These have been collected by the  entrepreneur Herrmann Baumann from Schillingfürst since the end of the 2nd World War. Baumann lived in Rothenburg and donated one of the largest weapons collections in Europe to the RothenburgMuseum.

What must be seen? Among the highlights of the Baumann Weapons Collection are the hunting rifle of Marie Antoinette, a hunting ensemble of Jérôme Napoleon (the youngest brother of Napoleon Bonaparte) and the dueling pistols of Klemenz Count von Metternich.
